As an American political activist, academic, philosopher and author. Angela Yvonne Davis is a professor emerita at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1944, Davis joined the Black Panthers and an all-black branch of the Communist Party as a young woman. Davis knew about racial prejudice from a early age; and lived in a neighborhood nicknamed “Dynamite Hill” for the number of homes targeted by the Ku Klux Klan.
