It only takes a single trigger to start a fire. The Black Lives Matter movement came to national prominence in the wake of the 2014 police shooting of an unarmed black 18-year-old in Ferguson, Missouri. Outrage over a spate of deaths of black Americans at the hands of police, especially the death of George Floyd, set the nation ablaze. The #BlackLivesMatter hashtag became omnipresent an international, all-inclusive tour de force, uniting people from all cultures in the name of equality. The controversy around BLM fashion also highlights the systemic racism that the movement is trying to change. Our Black Lives Matter Collection of BLM t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, dresses, and accessories is our tribute to those who refuse to remain silent. Black Lives Matter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. The names most associated with Black Lives Matter are not its leaders but the victims who have drawn attention to the massive issues of racism the world grapples with: George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, to name a few. Signs that read black lives matter have been posted in storefront windows, and the words painted onto city streets. Statues that venerate racists, segregationists, and Confederates have also come tumbling down. Black Lives Matter may be the largest movement in U.S. history. We’ll keep saying it over and over – BLACK LIVES MATTER.
